Temple History

Kondagattu temple is one of the famous temples of Jagitial District and is about 35 Km from Karimnagar. Sri Anjaneya Swamy is the Presiding deity at this temple. It is located in the hillock of Kondagattu village of Mallial mandal. The temple is surrounded by caves and Rayuni fort, bojja potana on its north. There is a Ghatroad from hilltop to base station.

Hanuman Jayanthi is celebrated with much gaiety fervor and devotion. Thousands and thousands of devotees who take 40-day Hanumad Deeksha come to this temple to end their 40-day Deeksha by worshipping Lord Hanuman here in this temple. The last day of the 40-day Deeksha happens to be the Jayanthi of Lord Hanuman.

The temple offers a breathtaking view surrounded by caves and Rayuni fort on its north. The caves and the fort also offer a pleasant holiday spot. The story of the temple, according to locals dates back to about 300 years ago, when a cowherd Singam sanjeevudu after losing one of his buffalo, came to this hilly area while searching for it. He soon fell into deep sleep after a tiresome search. It is believed that Lord Anjaneya Swamy appeared in his dream and told him the whereabouts of the lost buffalo, and when Sanjeeva woke up to start searching in the instructed direction, he found an enlightening idol of Anjaneya Swamy. He then built a small temple for Lord Anjaneya. The present day temple has been built 160 years ago by Krishna Rao Deshmukh. The same temple is now renowned as Kondagattu Anjaneya Swamy temple across the entire Telangana region.

There are sub-shrines in the temple for Lord Venkateswara, Goddess Alwaarula and Goddess Sri Laxmi.

It is believed that if a woman offers puja for 40 days at this temple then she will be blessed with a child.

Devastanam has a guest house and Telangana Tourism is maintaining Haritha Hotel near the temple. The temple also houses 45 Dharmashala rooms for the conveniences of devotees. Private Hotels and Lodges are available in Kondagattu village and Jagitial City.

It is about 30 km from Vemulavada another famous temple in Karimnagar.

This temple is located near the Jagtial - Karimnagar Road way. Jagitial (15Km) and Karimnagar (38.2Km) are the nearest cities.

It just 2.1 Kms from the Jagital-Karimnagar bus stop. Many autos and private vehicles are available from this stop to reach the temple. From Hyderabad it is 170Kms and buses are available from JBS Bus stand.

Mallial Nukapally Railway station is 5 Kms, Karimnagar Railway Station is 38.7 Km and Peddapally railway station is 72 Kms from here.
