Temple History

known as Neelkantheshwara temple is a 11th-century Lord Shiva temple. was built by Udayeshvar, brother of Parmar King Bhoj. It is a beautiful example of Indian architecture which resembles Bhojpur temple and Mahamaya temple.

It is one of the most prominent Hindu shrines in the region. The inscriptions found in this temple suggest that the Udaipur Town was founded by the Parmara King Udayaditya during the 11th century A.D. Other inscriptions found at the temple suggest that Parmara King Udayaditya construed this temple and dedicated it to Lord Shiva.
The architecture style of this temple has been adapted from the Bhumija style architecture.


Additional Information

A huge fair is held here on the day of mahashivratri, in which a huge crowd is gathered here to workship the lord Shiva.

The nearest airport is Raja Bhoj International Airport , Bhopal which is 141 KM from the temple. Major railway stations are Bhopal Junction 134 KM, Vidisha 77 KM, Ganj Basoda 21 KM, Bareth 12.5 KM.

Mostly private buses are available for Udaipur, hence it is advisable to go by own vehicles
