Temple History

There are numerous Krishna temples world wide but Shree Yashodha Mata Mandir at Indore is a unique temple where Maa Yashoda is can be seen with child Krishna showering her motherhood. The priest of Shree Yashodha Mata Mandir Sri Mahendra Dixit Ji told that his great grand father established this temple around 222 years ago. He got inspiration from his mother who used to say that whole world worships Sri Krishna but no body remembers his foster mother who brought up Sri Krishna and took great care of him. Thus his great grand father took oath to establish a temple of Mata Yashoda. He ordered the statue of Maa Yashoda in Jaipur and went to Jaipur on a bullock-cart to bring the idol.

Initially the only idol in this temple was of Maa Yashoda with Sri Krishna in her lap, later statue of Nand Baba (the foster father of Sri Krishna) was brought. Then afterwards Sri Radha-Krishna idol was also established in the temple. Later on Dai Maa's idol (midwife) was also placed in this temple.
