Temple History

Kasapuram , a Village in Guntakal Revenu Mandal , in Anantapur District , Andhra Pradesh is one of the pilgrim centeres. Nettikanti Anjaneya Swamy is the presiding deity in this village. He is the Kalpatharu and Varapradata of his devotees.

During 1509-1530 AD when Vijaya Nagar was ruled by Sri Krishnadevaraya , in his spiritual Guru Parampara , there was one acharya by name Sree Vyasaraya (of Madhvacharya order).This Acharya observed that the king was afflicted with a peril known as "Kuhula".To ward off this evil the swamy ruled the kingdom for one hour thirty six minutes(4 Ghatis). Sree Vyasaraya installed at different places 732 idols Lord Anjaneya. Sree Vyasaraya attained nirvana in 1539 AD . On the fourth day of Sukla Paksha (bright half) in the month of Phalguna.

his is a special feature . Every year a devotee gets a pair of shoes ready for swamiji which will be prepared by a cobbler who prepares them observing Brahmacharya and with one meal a day . The next day after presentation one can observe them a little bit worn out with thorns here and there. It was believed and even to this day it is believed, that the swamiji is used to go out in the night by wearing them. As such devotees according to their ability present a pair of shoes to swamiji as and when their desires are fulfilled. Devotees in hundreds visit the temple to appeal to the lord . They sleep in the temple Premises for the night praying god sincerely to come to their rescue in solving the difficult problems. Every year, Saturday in the month of Visakha , Sravana, Karthika and Magha number of devotees visit the temple for Namakaranam and tonsuring functions and Dasangam.

Temple board is maintaining Rooms and Cottages near the temple for the devotees accommodation at a nominal price. Nityannadanam is also available at the temple.

Guntakal Bus Station and Guntakal Railway Junctions are just 5.3 kms from the temple. Private transport and buses are available from here to the temple.
