Lord Shiva

Temple History

This ancient Sri Endala Mallikarjuna Swamy temple is situated in Ravivalasa village in Srikakulam District and devoted to one of the forms of Lord Shiva.

It is believed that the Pandavas visited this place during their exile. The temple has a self-elevated Shivalingam (around 50 feet tall) that stands without a dome. Devotees believe that the stone idol grows in size.

According to local belief, the Shivalingam has been slowly growing in size over the past thousands of years and has also become slightly tilted. Various mythologies as well as the epics of Ramayana and Mahabharata are also associated with it. It's also believed that a darshan of the lord and a dip in the water body next to the temple can cure skin diseases.

Mahashivratri festival is grandly celebrated here. Special ritual ceremonies are organised here on Mondays of the Kartika month.
