Temple History

Upamaka Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple is a blessed and holy Village 1 KM away from Nakkpalli Village on Chennai-Kolkatta NH5 Road on the stretch between Tuni and Visakhapatnam(70 km). This temple has been established by Sri Krishna Bhupaludu, king of Kandregula region of East Godavari district during the sixth century is visited by a large number of devotees through out the year. The hill on which the temple is located is in the shape of Garuda. Lord is seated on Horse along with His consort Goddess Lakshmi Devi facing North. There is a Raamasthoopam installed on 4th May 1964 by Sri Sri Thridandi Sreemannarayana Ramanuja Pedda Jiyar Swamy. This is one of the 108 Ramasthoopas in India. There is temple of Sri Venugopala Swamy at the foothill who is the kshetra palaka of this temple. It is believed that Praana Prathista of the main deity was performed by Narada.

UPMAKA KSHETRAM is prominently known as "PLACE OF PAVALIMPU" (Rest) to Swamy. In other words it is place of rest, to LORD. How fortunate it is to UPAMAKA KSHETRAM, which is endowed with this divine providence. It is the experience of every devotee that lord venkateswara - upamaka guards with invisible arms and fulfills their needs.

This was adopted by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. During the Kalyanostavam festival the deity atop the hill would be adorned with gold ornaments for six days during the festival. Pandals were erected over a large area and queue lines were formed for the Kalyanostavam. The one km road from the NH to the temple was illuminated. After initial rituals, the Kalyanostavam would be performed and the deities would be taken in procession on different “Vahanams”. The nine-day annual Kalyanostavam is the major festival along with Dhanurmasa mahotsavam, Adyayana Utsaswam and Bramhotsavam are celebrated every year grandly which attracts the huge crowd of devotees from the neighboring districts.

APSRTC Buses are available to reach this temple from Tuni, Narasipatnam Road, Addu Road, Nakkapalli, Kakinada, Vizag and Yellamanchili at frequent intervals.

Tuni and Narsipatnam road railway stations (Kolkatta - Chennai line ) are near to reach upamaka temple by train. Tuni railway station is 22.2 km and Narsipatnam Road station is 8.8 km from the temple.

Visakhapatnam International Airport is the nearest airport in 74.7 km.
