Temple History

Sitaram Bagh Mandir or Seetharambagh temple is an old temple (more than 180 years old) located in Mangalghat near Nampally, Hyderabad. This is one of the oldest Hindu Temple in Hyderabad dedicated to Lord Rama and Goddess Sita Devi.

This Temple was built by Sri Puranmal Ganeriwala, in the 1830s. He is the son of Seth Mahanand Ramji, scion of Ganeriwal family. Puranmal Ganeriwala has constructed this beautiful temple complex and laid out a garden in the remaining grounds. A garden is called Bagh in Hindi and as the temple in it is of Sita and Rama, this temple complex is called Sitaram Bagh. This temple is well maintained even today by the Ganeriwal family. Sitaram Bagh temple is spread over 25 acres of land. It's architecture style is a mixture of Rajasthani, Mughal and European. It was constructed during the regime of Qutub Shahi Kings. It was supported by the Nizams. There is a 20 feet’s high wall surrounding this temple and thus it looks like a fort.

The major sanctum sanctorum of Lord Sri Rama and Sita Devi is carved through marbles brought from Jaipur, Rajashtan. There are also shrines installed here dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Hanuman, Goddess Lakshmi, and Varadarajaswamy within the temple.

Sitaram bagh temple the birthday related pooja/celebration is performed in the morning and the marriage ceremony late in the night.
