Temple History

Sri Subrahmanya Swamy temple is situated in Pampanur village of Atmakur mandal in Anantapur district. This famous temple is dedicated to Lord Subrahmanya swamy. Subrahmanya swamy is appears here in snake model here.

It is said that this temple is 500 years old and constructed by Sri Vyasarayalu during Vijayanagara dynasty. Later this temple was ...In 1980-90 villagers requested a school principal named Late Sri.Madusudana Shastry to start poojas and rituals to moolavirat. He visits the temple and identified the greatness of Sri Subrahmanya swamy idol. He dreamnt the specialty of the holy place. He informed the dream to the villagers. He started daily rituals and offerings at the temple. After some days this temple became famous and reconstructed by the help of villagers and devotees.

In 2004 sub temples of Lord Shiva, Parvathi devi and Ganapati temples are constructed.

This temple is famous for all types of Graha doshas, Rahu Kethu dosha and Kalasarpa dosha poojas. Devotees not only from surrounding villages and from other states also visits this temple and perform poojas to get remedy from navagraha doshas and sarpa doshas. Childeless couples and unmarried people visits this temple to get blessings from Sri Subrahmanya swamy.

Devotees believes that who do 9 or 11 weeks visits this temple on Tuesday or Sundays to perform rituals and did 108 pradakshinas will receives the blessings of Sri Subrahmanya swamy and fulfillment of their wishes.

Subrahmanya swamy is appears here in snake model with seven padigas here. Entire Lord Shiva family appears in this one idol. This holy idol consists of Sri Chakram(Parvathi Devi), Ganapati at the bottom, Shiva linga in middle, Nagendra swamy and Narasimha swamy at the top. Peacock feathers appears in both the sides of the idol.

Nagulachavithi, Nagula panchami, Subrahmanya shsashti festivals are grandly celebrated here. Devotees from surrounding villages, cities and other states participates in large numbers.

Kartikeya Goshala is maintained by the Temple seva samithi.

Temple board is maintaining rooms for the devotees accommodation. Annadanam is also available at the temple.

Best accommodation facilities and hotels are available at Anantapur city which is near to this temple.

Daily Abhishekam is performed at 8:30 am and on Sunday and Tuesdays performed at 11:00 am.

Pampanur temple is situated on Atmakur and Anantapur road. APSRTC buses regularly ply between these cities. Anantapur city is well connected with all the major cities of Andhra pradesh, Telangana and Karnatka by road and railways which is just 15 kms from here.

Atmakur bus stand is 6.5 kms and Anantapur city bus stand is 21 kms from Pampanur.

Anantapur is the nearest railway station which is 19.9 kms from the temple. Buses and private transport facilities are available from Anantapur city to reach this temple.

Bengaluru International airport is 208 kms and Hyderabad International airport is 360 kms.
