Located at the gateway of Sirah in Jaipur is a colossal Ramchandra Temple and on the south of the courtyard of this ancient shrine is a huge gate; entering which one can find a beautiful Chandreshwar Mahadev Temple. This shrine is a fine specimen of Jaipur sculpture that can attract any art lover. The articulate and intricate carvings on the marble pillars are worth appreciating in this two-story temple. Named after Queen Chandrawati, Chandrashwar temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is said to have been constructed by the Maharaja for his Queen and thus we all see a slight romantic angle to its establishment. In the sanctum, apart from the deity of Lord Shiva, an idol of Goddess Parvati and Lord Ganesha and Kartikeya can also be witnessed. The portals of the temple are done in brass and have some fine carvings as well; it is believed the Shivling worshipped here has been brought from River Narmada.
Once, the temple of royal family, today this shrine is one of the lesser known gems of Jaipur city.
The temple is situated on Chandpol Bazaar Road can be reached from Pink City via Ajmer Road and SC Road.
From Sanganer Airport this temple is around 17 KM, it is 8.6 KM from Jaipur Railway Station and 12 KM from Jaipur Bus Stand.
