Temple History

Sri Chathurmukha Brahmalingeshwara Temple is dedicated to Lord Brahma and Lord Shiva. It is said that Chebrolu Brahma Temple is believed to be above 1000 years old and dates to Chola, Chalukya, Pallava, and Kakatiya dynasties. According to the history this temple is built by Sri Raja Vasireddy Venkatadri Naidu in 1817.

Only two Lord Brahma temples are in India one is at Kasi and other is this Chebrolu temple. As per the Legends, Sage Bhrugu cursed Brahma that he will not be worshipped during Kaliyuga. Hence,there are no temples for Lord Brahma on the Earth. Temple at Chebrolu is surrounded by water on the sides with a pathway in the middle. Brahma was engraved on the four sides of the Linga. The main attraction of this temple Lord Brahma embodied on the four sides of Shiva Lingam. This Linga is called by Chatrurmukha Brahma Lingeswara. Sahasra Lingeswara, Veerabadhra, Nageswara, and Bhimeswara shrines are located nearby to this temple. Nandi statue which stands outside the temple was carved out of a single red stone.

It was an idol of Lord Nataraja measuring 12 feet that was the centre of attraction here thousands of years ago. Nearby Temples are Sri Adikesava Swamy Temple.

The main temple is situated center of a pond and the temple have four entrances and surrounded by four temples. on East Sri Chandramouliswara Swamy, West Sri Sahasra Lingeshwara Swamy, North Sri Venugopala Swamy and on South Sri Ranganatha Swamy idols are installed.

Special poojas are performed during hindu festivals.

Guntur is the nearest city (16kms) to reach this temple by road and railways. Many buses and private transport is available to reach this temple. Chebrolu Bus Stand is just 300 mtrs from here. APSRTC operates frequent buses from all major cities to Chebrolu.

Guntur Junction railway station is just 16 kms from here. Vijayawada International Airport is 65 kms to Chebrolu temple. Tsundur is another small railway station which is just 10 kms.
