Temple History

Annavaram is the holy place of Lord Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swamy is situated on Ratnagiri hill top and the name of the Goddess is Ananta Lakshmi Satyavathi Devi. Sri Satyanarayana Swamy at Annavaram is followed by sacred Pampa River touching the feet of the hill. The presiding deity located in East Godavari District of Andhra Pradesh in India. The temple is about 3 Km from the Annavaram Railway station. It is 88kms from Rajahmundry, 123kms from Visakhapatnam and 46.8Kms from Kakinada Town. Rajahmundry and Vishakhapatnam are the nearest airports to reach this temple.
As per the puranas, the presiding diety of the place blesses the devotees with AninaVaram,which is the place is called Annavaram. The Small hill by the side of the village is considered to be sacrosanct. Meruvu the Lord of the hills and his consort Menaka did great penance and begot two sons by the grace of Lord Vishnu. One was named Bhadra and the other Ratnakara.
Bhadra pleased Lord Vishnu and was blessed to become a hill known as Bhadragiri on which Lord Vishnu resided in the form of Lord Rama. This place became well-known as Bhadrachalam. To attain the same status as his brother, Ratnakara started praying Lord Vishnu. Pleased with his devotion, the Lord appeared before him in the form of Sri Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Swami and blessed him to turn into Hill known as Ratnagiri. Since then the Lord resides on the hill of Ratnagiri named after Ratnakara.
Enriched by the installation of SRIMATHRIPATHVIBHUTI VYKHUNTA MAHA NARAYANA YANTRA, which plays a dominant and important role with the power of attraction of both money and men (Dhana Janakarsha). The Peetham of Swamyvaru is highly adorned with the installation of Panchayatana, befitting the glory and sanctity of the deity.
This famous yantra is a unique one, the like of which does not exist anywhere else in India.
There are also a temple of Sri Rama and the shrines of Vana Durga and Kanaka Durga nearby. The temple of gramadevatha"Nerellamma" (village deity) is in the village at the foot of the hill.
It is said that one Brahmin of the village by name Earanki prakasam got a dream wherein lord appeared and told him that his vigraha was left abondened on the hill without worship and they shall trace it and re consecrate it. That Brahmin informed the said fact to Sri Raja I.V.Ramarayanam,the then Zamindar of Gorasa of kirlampudi estate, and both of them along with other villagers traced the idol on the hill, worshipped it and installed it. At the present spot on Sravana Suddha Vidiya of the Telugu year Khara (i.e.) 1891 A.D (Fasli 1301). The hillock itself is about 300ft above sea level, green fields all-round the hills and the pampa river encircling Ratnagiri. About 460 well laid stone steps leads to the top of it.
The main legends connecting to this vratham are Sage Narada who worshiped Lord Vishnu to get relief from distress. The lord suggested the sage for Satyanarayana Vratham that could be prosperous for him.

Satyanarayana Swamy Vratham Online Booking facility was introduced to book the Vratham, Kalyanam sevas online. These sevas or services can be reserved online in advance through the temple website. Visit the Devasthanam web site, Click on online services and choose the service type, fill the online application. They have to submit their Proof ID card details (upload) and submit.

Devastanam administration has taken all measures for the pilgrim's comfortable stay on the Ratnagiri. Visitors will be offered different kinds of accommodation ranging from Normal rooms to A.C Suits in various choultries and guest houses on the hill. Devotees can avail advance reservation facility for accommodation at up hills & down hills of the temple through A.P.Government’s Mee-Seva service. Many Private Hotels and Lodges are also available at downhills of the temple for the accommodation.

APSRTC runs frequent buses for every half an hour from Kakinada town, Rajahmundry, Tuni and Visakhapatnam to this temple. Devasthanam is running buses from Downhill to Up Hill.

Annavaram Railway Station is 3 Km from the temple. This railway station is located between Vijayawada and Vishakhapatnam rail route. It is 88kms from Rajahmundry, 123kms from Visakhapatnam and 46.8Kms from Kakinada Town.

Rajahmundry Airport is the nearest Airport to reach Annavaram temple at distance of 81.3Kms and Visakhapatnam Airport is another airport at a distance of 115Kms.
